Carl is a biblical scholar, minister, husband, father and life coach. In his mid-twenties he had a powerful encounter with God and saw miraculous healings as a result. He passionately shares these stories and empowers others to fulfill their God-given potential.

As we wrap up this series, Carl reminds us, that the knowledge of God, brings Joy. Every day people on earth seek happiness and lasting fulfillment, yet this can only be found in the mind of the creator who knows what makes his creation tick, namely us! Joy is an innate part of the Kingdom of God (Rom 14:17), and as we seek the Father in an ongoing devotional aspect of faith, joy will manifest and thrive in union with the Holy Spirit, as we pursue Him on a daily basis. Join Carl now, for this final segment…

Here is a complete transcript of the podcast…(below)

Friend, this is our fourth and final session on living in supernatural joy. And friend, there’s so much to talk about regarding joy. I only took a snippet, a mere snippet of the scriptures that could have been discussed on such a large and vast topic. In 3rd John 4, it says, “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.” That’s the Apostle John speaking. In Jude 24, it says, “Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, talking about the Holy Spirit, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy.” 2nd John 12 says, “How many things to write unto you I would not write with paper and ink, but I trust to come to you and speak face to face that our joy may be full.” And once again in 1st John 1:4, “And these things do I write to you that your joy may be full. “Friend, the knowledge of God brings joy.

The truth brings joy. In James 1:2, a famous passage, it says, “My brethren, talking to the believers, counted all joy when you fall into divers temptations.” He didn’t say that it was joyful to fall into those temptations. No, we’re supposed to count it for joy. If you resist that temptation and get to the other side using your faith, then you shall receive joy, not only through it, but at the end of the temptation. Friend, joy is a supernatural force, a strength that lies within you that you need to draw upon. And in Colossians 1:11, it says, “Strengthened with all might according to his glorious power,” talking about Jesus, And to all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness. Again, it’s this concept of enduring longsuffering, enduring hardship, but having joy present whilst you go through the trial.

Friend, get a hold of this. And here’s another one, Romans 15:13, “Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing that you may abound in hope through the power of the Holy Ghost.” You know, when we pray in the Holy Ghost, Acts 1:8, and that power, that dunamis power is present. We’re building ourselves up on our most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, (Jude 20). But through this power, we may feel joy and peace while we pray in the Spirit. And don’t forget Romans 14:17, “For the kingdom of God is neither meat nor drink, but righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost.” Friend, the Holy Ghost is inside of you. You have access to him. And the kingdom is not about natural substance. That’s what it’s saying when it says meat nor drink, but it’s spiritual. It’s right standing with God firstly. And because you have right standing, you then enter into peace.

You’re justified by Jesus, just as if you’d never sinned in the first place. You’re actually back into right standing. And then some, then you feel peace, which was actually an impartation that Jesus gave to his disciples. Peace I giveth unto you. Peace I give, not as the world giveth I unto thee. For in this world you will have tribulation, but be of good cheer. I have overcome the world. Friend, once you have that peace, then joy can manifest because you’re chilled. You know that the Father is taking care of business. Amen. And remember that there was one baptism of the Holy Spirit in the book of Acts, but there were several in fillings. For example, in Acts chapter 13 verse 52, it says the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Ghost. There’s an accompaniment of joy that comes with another in filling after you’ve been baptized with the Holy Ghost. Oh, friend, there’s much to speak about joy, but don’t miss this because don’t let another day pass and just get up and go to work and just go through that routine. Break that routine now.

Seek the Father in the morning and say, Lord, I rely on your grace. And remember that root word for grace is the same word we get for joy. That in grace, He is empowering you to feel the joy of God. Don’t let it slip away, friend. Don’t let this message pass you by. This is the fourth and final session. As you join me now live in D-Hop. The many benefits of laughter. The physical benefits. It boosts immunity, lowers stress, decreases pain, relaxes the muscles, actually burns calories, prevents heart disease. This is a painting of laughing Jesus. I love it. No, not many people think of the Lord as laughing, but He was laughing, okay? He had joy in His heart. Mental health benefits. Adds joy and zest to life, relieves stress, improves mood, enhances resilience or improves self-esteem.

Wow, I want to do this more often. Amen. We should do it more often. Social benefits. It enhances teamwork, helps diffuse conflict, attracts others to us, reduces loneliness. Some of them may be true, amen? I’m not saying everything is 100% on some of these, but you can see a massive, massive difference when you have joy in your heart. But actually experiencing it, amen? Not just having it. Oh yes, I’m very joyful. I like the existential concept of being joyful. That’s wonderful, yes. No, we’re talking about actually smiling and getting on with it, amen? Julia’s got the giggles. Someone got an activation. Okay, so here’s the nitty-gritty. Here is the log jam. The log jam within our soul. We talked about the spirit man being born from death into life. Then we have the rivers of living water that come up within us, John 7, 37 and 38. We have our soul. Some of us may not be experiencing that much joy because we still have resentment, hate, bitterness, self-hatred, poor self-image, all of those things. These are log jams in the soul that need to be released. When we do that, the presence of God will be more tangible to us, amen? Because as we walk this life, which isn’t easy by any means, we can pick up some stuff.

We may even have some stuff that’s 10 years old. We may even have some stuff that’s 20 years old that we’ve never really resolved. As we give up those things, we’re going to feel his presence more, amen? Proverbs 23:7 says, “for as a man thinks in his heart, so is he.” Our thoughts, our predominant thoughts, impact our emotions. If you are depressed, you’re going to change the chemical structure of your brain because you’ve been thinking on those regrets and those things that have happened to you. You can actually change the chemical structure. So I read this list, signs of repressed emotions, perfectionism, a desire for control, self-doubt, self-depreciation, cynicism, criticism, promiscuity, explosive outbursts. You know, when people explode, it’s because something’s buried. It’s never been dealt with.

I knew a guy actually back in the UK who was like that. He was the most mild-mannered guy, but now and again, he’d just flip out. And it’s like, what’s the deal? And it turned out that he was really badly beaten by his dad growing up, and he just never really resolved it. And then his dad died, so he couldn’t get reconciliation with him. But maybe some of us can relate to some of the things on this list. We can all relate to some of these. Just look at that list right now and think, is there something there that I relate to? Could be some buried emotion that needs to be dealt with. You may be having a gay old time. Maybe, you know, life’s great, and I’ve dealt with those, pastor. Fantastic, good for you. And there’s some people who need to deal with some stuff. So let’s review. Let’s review. Laughter has been called the voice of joy. We should do it more often. Well, I can’t just produce laughter until you tell me a funny joke. Fair enough. But you can choose to say, Lord, today I’m asking for grace. I’m asking for joy. I thank you that you’re going to help me flow in that joy. Help me feel that joy because it’s on the inside of me. Amen. Even if pastor’s jokes are awful tonight, that doesn’t happen very often. I will still laugh. Amen. I will still laugh. I will still have joy because he’s not dependent on his jokes.

You’re not a victim of your thought life. You tell your mind what to think. Remember Wigglesworth? I’d tell him how he thinks, dude. Buried emotions need to be addressed. We should not ignore them. We could have manifestations of sickness, pains in the back that are ongoing. I have the pain in the back. I just can’t get rid of it. I’ve been had a massage. I’ve been to the chiropractor, etc. I’m giving a hypothetical. Sometimes back pain can be related to stress. You may have an overriding malady that’s never gone away for years here. Some of you people may have that. That could be tied to your soul. It could be tied to a soul issue. So it’s that exciting time again where we ask the Lord to rid us of the log jams in our soul. And let’s ask for a fresh touch of the spirit and times of refreshing in his presence. Let’s do that now. How many want to do that? How many want to experience his presence and peace? Pastor, every week we do this. Fair enough. We may do it every week. But we need to rid ourselves of the stuff so we can enjoy his presence more. Amen. We don’t want to be living in the molly grubs, wherever that is, whatever zip code that is. We don’t want to be living there. We need to transmit the joy of the Lord to our face.

Amen. Okay, we’re going to enter into a time of prayer. The Lord is going to show you this specific thing that you need to release if needed. Some of you may not. You’re great. Life’s great. Some of you are going through some stuff right now that is contingent. It’s hinging above you like a cloud. Like, I can’t be happy until this is resolved. Friend, let me enter into secret. As soon as this is resolved, there’s going to be something else. Oh man, you’re going to ruin the evening. Pastor, I can’t believe you just said that. There’s always going to be something, guys. There’s always going to be something, right? Is it a tax return? Is it this? Is it that? Is somebody sick? We have to focus on him. Friend, that wraps up the very last session on living in supernatural joy. Now, here’s what I want you to do. If you have been touched by this ministry in any way, I want to hear from you.

Shoot me an email. Heck, you don’t even have to agree with me. You can send me a question, a rebuttal, your opinion. I just love to hear from you, friend. I will pray over every response and not shoot from the hip. Because sometimes, you know, when you have a disagreement, that’s the Lord pricking your heart and saying, you know what? What you’ve believed is not correct at this point. I am changing it. I am pricking your heart and I am breaking away that callousness so that you would come into greater levels of truth. And friend, that’s one of the joys of being a Christian. We can agree to disagree, but we’re still going to remain in fellowship. We’re still going to have relationship at the end of the day. Now, for those long-term listeners who’ve been listening for months now, we’re in our sixth month of broadcasting.

I would prayerfully ask that you would consider sowing a financial seed into this ministry. You can go to our website and give online if you so desire. We have several articles there and several podcasts and postings. And so the website is available for everybody. But let me just switch over right now and believe the Lord for a word. I keep hearing Stephanie. Stephanie, you’ve had a falling out with your sister. It’s been quite a sharp argument. And the Lord is saying, just keep loving on your sister. Don’t give up on her. Just be consistent and you will win her back. And actually, the argument is over some immoral issue. I’m not going to get into it. But there’s a rebuke there and there’s a wounding on the other side of the rebuke. Or rather, there’s an offense and it was not taken well. And so you were doing the Lord’s work when you did this and you were speaking the truth. And sometimes the truth offends. In fact, most times it does. But don’t let go of your sister. Continue to lift her up in prayer and be consistent in your response to her.

And you will see reconciliation in Jesus’ name. And also David. Strange one here. I feel like there’s a guy called David out there. He’s lost his billfold. And that billfold is in the car. It’s under the seat. You need to look in the car for that billfold. Sounds kind of strange there, friend. But that’s what I got. I got it by the Holy Spirit. OK, contact me if this resonates with you. If I have spoken to you today, give me an email. And right now there’s a lady called Susan out there who has been presented a wonderful opportunity from Jesus. In fact, you’re thinking to yourself, this looks too good. It’s too good to be true. And the reason is, friend, or rather Susan, it is because it’s from the Lord. This is a blessing he is giving you for your faithful service down the years. And don’t turn away from this. This is something he’s setting up for your retirement. And you need to take action because this is a blessing you need to embrace now. Don’t put it off. And there’s some sort of like, I don’t know, am I good enough to earn this kind of mentality over you? You didn’t earn it. God’s given it to you as a gift. So embrace it and just go for it today. Friend, I hope you’ve enjoyed our session. We try to keep a lot of variety in these broadcasts because we know there are so many choices out there for listening to the Word of God. If there is something you’d want me to research and then talk about it on the radio, please shoot me an email. I would prayerfully consider that. But I’d love to hear from you in any form. Until tomorrow, good night, God bless, and remember to spread the good news.

Six Frequently Asked Question:

1. What is supernatural joy, and how does it differ from regular happiness?

Supernatural joy is a deep, spiritual joy that comes from knowing and experiencing God’s presence, power, and peace. Unlike regular happiness, which can be influenced by external circumstances, supernatural joy is rooted in the Holy Spirit and remains present even during trials and hardships. It’s not based on the things happening around us but on the unshakable truth of God’s love and promises.

2. How can I experience joy even in difficult situations or trials?

In James 1:2, believers are encouraged to “count it all joy” when facing trials. While the trials themselves aren’t joyful, joy comes when you trust in God’s faithfulness, knowing that overcoming challenges with His strength will lead to growth and greater joy. You can draw on the Holy Spirit’s power to endure hardships with a heart of joy, as joy is a supernatural force that strengthens you in those moments.

3. What role does the Holy Spirit play in experiencing joy?

The Holy Spirit is the key source of supernatural joy. Romans 15:13 describes the Holy Spirit as the one who fills believers with joy and peace in believing. Through prayer and communion with the Spirit, you tap into the power of God to experience joy that transcends circumstances. As you walk in the Spirit, He strengthens you, bringing joy that is not dependent on external factors.

4. Can laughter be considered a form of joy, and what are its benefits?

Yes, laughter is often called the “voice of joy.” It has numerous physical, mental, and social benefits. It boosts immunity, lowers stress, and even helps with pain relief. Mentally, it improves mood, resilience, and self-esteem. Socially, laughter helps diffuse conflict, build relationships, and reduce loneliness. It’s a great way to manifest and enjoy the joy that is inside of you.

5. Why do I sometimes feel blocked from experiencing joy, even as a Christian?

Feelings of resentment, bitterness, and unresolved emotional pain can create “log jams” in your soul, preventing the flow of joy. These unresolved emotions affect your thoughts and can alter your brain chemistry, leading to depression or stress. The key is to address these buried emotions, release them to God, and allow the Holy Spirit to bring healing. This opens the door for deeper joy and a more tangible experience of God’s presence.

6. How can I cultivate a lifestyle of joy in my everyday life?

To cultivate joy, begin by focusing on the truth of God’s Word, praying in the Spirit, and relying on His grace. Set aside time to seek God in the morning and ask Him to fill you with joy. Remember, joy is not just an emotion but a choice—decide to walk in it daily, even if circumstances don’t seem favorable. By constantly redirecting your thoughts to God’s goodness and promises, joy will become a more consistent part of your life.
