Carl is a biblical scholar, minister, husband, father and life coach. In his mid-twenties he had a powerful encounter with God and saw miraculous healings as a result. He passionately shares these stories and empowers others to fulfill their God-given potential.

Carl begins a new series exploring the biblical role of angels, including the ever present threat of angelic deception. Angels are ministering spirits sent by God to assist those who will inherit salvation, offering protection, and support according to the Holy Bible. We must never seek to commune with angels, or pray to angels. Many cults have arisen from counterfeit encounters, which sometimes stem from the angelic realm. Drawing from both Scripture and personal testimony, Carl’s message highlights the role of benevolent spiritual entities working on our behalf in the unseen realm. These are the angels doing God’s bidding and can be relied upon. Join Carl now…

Here is a complete transcript of the broadcast (below)…

Friend, I’m introducing a new series today called the Ministry of Angels. Now, this is a topic that is so vast I could cover it for days. But in our sessions, we’re going to ask specific questions. What roles do angels play in the body of Christ today? How are they empowered to assist us in our everyday lives? Do we need to be cautious when it comes to the angelic realm? And is there a time when we should pray to angels? Well, that’s probably an easy one to answer if you’ve been listening to me for a few months already. But there are different types of angels, friend, and we’re going to discuss them in our live broadcast. I’m also going to give examples of testimonies of angels I’ve had in my own life and other people who I know or friends and acquaintances who’ve shared them with me. But friend, our words are so important when it comes to angels. We’re going to discuss this. And then the book of Hebrews talks much about the fact that there are ministering spirits out there sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation. And friend, the angelic realm is rife with deception. Satan, of course, is a cherub. We’re going to discuss this. He appears as an angel of light, and we need to be very careful. And there are several cults that were actually founded based on strange encounters with angels.

And the book of Galatians warns us against receiving other information or another gospel from angels appearing and posing as messengers. We’re going to talk about guardian angels as well. And friend, we’re going to cover several topics, so I hope you enjoy it. Let’s join me now live in session at D-Hop. But the classic cherubs that you see, the little babies with the little wings, are not what cherubs look like, friends. They don’t look like that, as we know. But how does the ministry of angels apply to us individually? How what we say, think, or do could impact the spiritual realm? We’re going to get into that. So, what role do angels play in the body of Christ today? Is it the same dispensation as Acts or Romans or Corinthians? Are we in the same church, friends? Are we in the same dispensation? I would suggest that we are. How are they empowered to assist us in our everyday lives? Do we need to be cautious when it comes to the angelic realm? Something to consider. Is there a time when we should pray to angels? No, no, no, no, no, no, no. Never ever are we to pray to angels. Amen? That’s how deception begins. In fact, the New Age movement are huge proponents of communing with spirit guides who are fallen angels or demons, who are posing as benevolent entities here to help us and guide us in life. Friend, we should never ever pray to those angels. Can I get an amen in the house tonight? Are there different types of angels? Yes. Thanks, Captain Obvious. There are. Have angels been involved in the formulation of various cults? Yes, they have.

We’re going to get into it. Amen? So, whenever we bring some topic to the table, we go by the oracle of God. Pastors spend time studying it. He doesn’t make stuff up. We have scriptural reference for what we’re about to present, and we rely on those, OK? So, there’s a lot of speculation today as to what angels do in our lives and how they look and what they’re supposed to be doing on the earth, but we’re going to go by what the Word says about it. So, the Mosaic law was given by the dispensation of angels. An angel of the Lord went before the camp of Israel, protecting them in front and in the rear. So, we know angels can be involved in protection. Then we have an angel appearing to Mary, which told her she was to conceive. Then we have the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem, proclaimed by the angels to the shepherds, right? Watching in their fields. So, we have the proclamation of births. We have protection, which is seen in the angelic realm. Then Joseph was given direction several times by an angel and told him not to fear, but take Mary as a wife. And twice an angel appeared to him and told him where to go to avoid the people who were trying to kill our Lord Jesus, amen? So, there was a warning. So, there’s protection. There’s angelic realm involved in the birth of Jesus Christ and also warnings that could come. So angels are involved in significant events in Scripture. Their appearance is not normal or common, and we shouldn’t go looking for them, but they’re the byproduct of our Almighty God, amen? You know, it says He’s the Lord of Sabaoth, and that word is the Lord of hosts, which is the hosts of angels, right? Amen.

So we have the electromagnetic spectrum, okay? We have visible light. We have infrared. We have gamma ray. We have ultraviolet light. There’s nine ranges of spectrum of frequency and vibration. Our eyes can only see the natural realm of light, but there’s many other ranges of light that are available, right? So it’s like in this room there are mobile phone signals all bouncing off the walls. Just because we can’t see them doesn’t mean they don’t exist. We can’t just rely on our own eyesight for everything that is truth, right? We have to go by faith in many aspects, and if the oracles of God say it, then it’s truth, whether we can detect it by our senses or not. In fact, many believers will never see an angel in their lifetime unless God reveals one of them to you as a stranger or an angelic visitor, and I’m going to give examples of that from my own life and some of my friends where they’ve had angel encounters. Who are they? What are they? They are the messengers of God, powerful beings that inhabit the heavenly spheres, and they’re on this earth. If you remember Jacob’s ladder, the angels were ascending and descending on the ladder. What does that mean? If they’re going up and coming down, their main sphere of business is the earth, not heaven, right? The angels were witness to the creation. We know that because Satan, or Lucifer as he was called in Isaiah 14, existed prior to the creation of this earth, so he must have been witness to it, and sin must have begun before man was created. Otherwise, he couldn’t have tempted us. It had to have occurred before this time continuum.

So, these angels were created good because God cannot create evil. Angels are free moral agents and responsible for their actions like us. You know, there’s a teaching that says angels are like robots and they can’t choose. Well, hang on a second. If that was the case, Lucifer couldn’t choose rebellion. He couldn’t have chosen pride. He couldn’t have said the five I wills in Isaiah Chapter 14. I will be like the ‘Most-High’, and then he fell. Amen? The moment he wanted a taste of that glory, that was the end for him. Okay? God doesn’t share his glory, friends, but there’s a deposit of glory in us in the New Testament. It does talk about that. So, they have a choice. Lucifer chose rebellion. The rest is history. Angels are intelligent beings, evidencing understanding and curiosity. They can be emotional. They’re capable of praise. They’re capable of rejoicing and even anger. So, they have emotions like us. They can make decisions. As spirit beings, they serve those who will inherit salvation. Write that down. Hebrews 1:14, a very important verse. They serve those who will inherit salvation. They are immortal and innumerable. Two-thirds of them are good, and one-third chose to side with Satan.

The scripture we have for that is Revelation 12.4. So, the good news is the majority is on our side. Amen? The majority have chosen the way of Yahweh God. But there’s these rebellious angels out there, and we’re going to discuss that. Let’s talk about the role of angels today in this dispensation. And this is a very powerful verse. Hebrews 1:13-14, and I quote, But to which of the angels has he ever said, “Sit at my right hand till I make your enemies your footstool.” Talking of Christ Jesus, Jesus is making his enemies his footstool. It is a progressive work. Right now, the kingdoms of this world are not totally in the hands of Jesus Christ. There will come a time when they will be, and that will be the thousand-year millennial reign, where Jesus will rule and reign, amen, in a theocracy. Okay? What he says goes. Satan will be bound up, and we will live righteously on the earth. Amen? Remember that? Remember the thousand-year millennial reign of Christ? Spoken of in Revelation. It’s what we look forward to. Right now, we’ve been justified by the blood of Jesus, but we still have this stinking, fleshy body that still causes us to sin, now and again.

But one day, we’ll receive a glorified body, and we’ll be flesh and bone as Jesus was after he was resurrected. Remember, he ate breakfast with the disciples on the seashores of Galilee, and he was able to walk through walls and still eat food. Far out, dude. He was flesh and bone. But it didn’t say that he was flesh and blood. Why is that? Because his blood was also presented on the mercy seat. Amen? He presented his blood to the mercy seat in heaven. And the Father said, this sacrifice is acceptable. Hallelujah. So one day, you’re going to have a glorified body. I’m excited about that. You can eat as many donuts as you want. You won’t put on a pound. Amen? That’s where my faith is. Verse 14. Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation? These angels are sent forth in the earth to assist us in coming to Christ Jesus. And once we have done that, they then continue to assist us from this point forward to fulfill the will of God. Therefore, we must give them more earnest heed to the things we have heard lest we drift away. So what have we just heard? We heard that angels and ministering spirits sent forth to earth to minister to us, believers. Every one of us born on this earth is an heir of the salvation that God provided through His Son, through the blood. Amen?

Every one of us has an opportunity to choose Him. We still have to do the choosing. So the role of angels is to guide humanity in the direction of Christ. Angels don’t preach the Word of God. Ministers do. But we don’t know the impact of angels in the spiritual realm that caused us to be at a certain place, at a certain time, to hear a guy with a funny British accent try and explain angels. Amen? Angels could have been involved tonight. They could have helped you on the way to avoid accidents. We can’t prove it either way. Amen? If we look up that word salvation, that word salvation is sauterie here in the Greek. If you look it up in the Greek, it means preservation, healing, soundness, and deliverance from temporal evils. So it’s not just a salvation of accepting Christ Jesus. It’s also an ongoing preservation, an ongoing soundness that is continual. We should give earnest heed to the angelic realm. Are we praying to them? No, we are not. We are not. Are we communing with angels? No, we’re not. We’re not talking to them. Nope. Our focus is Father God in the name of Jesus. And we let them do their job, okay? But we’re aware of them in the presence of God and in our lives. Angelic deception is rife today. If you look up angels on the internet, the first searches you’re going to find are not godly. They’re going to be a whole list of other alternatives, of angels with funny names that we’ve never heard of in no book that I’ve ever read.

And so it’s like, where do they get this information from? Deception. 2 Corinthians 11.14 says, “And marvel not, for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.” Okay? There’s a lot of funny lights in the sky recently, a lot of them on YouTube. We don’t know the source of those lights. They could be good or evil. But the point is that Satan is masquerading as an angel of light. And typically, light is good, right? Light is good, darkness is evil. When Satan comes to us to tempt us, he comes as a friend. He’s not going to come as a thug. He’s not going to come as your enemy. He’s going to help you along the way, right? Did God say? Oh, wait a minute. Did God say that we couldn’t? No, no, no. He said you could become like God. So there’s always this subtle suggestion. Satan uses suggestion. He will make you think that the thoughts you’re thinking are even your own thoughts necessarily, but they’re not. Okay?

Six Frequently Asked Questions:

1. What role do angels play in the body of Christ today?

Angels serve as ministering spirits to believers, assisting us to attain salvation and fulfilling God’s will, once salvation has been found. According to Hebrews 1:14, angels are sent forth to minister to those who will inherit salvation. This also includes protection. While they never preach the gospel, angels can lead people toward Christ and His gospel. Angels are involved in protecting, guiding, and providing spiritual assistance to God’s people, in conformance with His word.

2. Can angels assist us in our everyday lives?

Yes, angels are empowered to assist believers in everyday life by protecting us from harm and intervening in dangerous situations. While they are not typically seen with physical eyes, their influence can be felt in many ways, such as through protection, and direction. We trust that angels are working on our behalf to fulfill God’s purposes for us and are strengthened by our prayers. If we entertain strangers, it is said, we could be entertaining angels without knowing (Heb 13:2).

3. Should we be cautious about the angelic realm?

Absolutely. While angels are indeed God’s messengers, the angelic realm is susceptible to deception, especially by fallen angels, or demons, who can appear as “angels of light” (2 Cor 11:4). Satan is also an angel (cherubim) and can disguise himself in ways that appear benevolent. It’s important to test all spiritual experiences against Scripture and remain grounded in God’s truth to avoid deception. We can only achieve this if we know God’s word for ourselves.

4. Is it ever appropriate to pray to angels?

No, we should never pray to angels. Angels are created beings, messengers of God, and their role is to serve and assist believers in their spiritual journey, not to be worshiped or invoked. Scripture warns against seeking angels or communicating with them directly, as this opens the door to spiritual deception. Our focus should always be on God the Father, through Jesus Christ, and not on angels.

5. Are there different types of angels?

Yes, the Bible describes various types of angels, each with different roles. Some angels are messengers, delivering God’s instructions or proclamations. Others are warrior angels, such as Michael, who fight against the spiritual forces of evil. There are also cherubim and seraphim mentioned in Scripture, each with unique characteristics and functions in the heavenly realm. The “classic” image of a cherub as a small baby with wings is inaccurate. Cherubim are powerful beings associated with guarding and worshiping God.

6. How can we avoid falling into angelic deception in today’s world?

To avoid deception in the angelic realm, we must remain anchored in biblical truth and be discerning about the sources of information we access. Many modern-day claims about angels, such as in New Age spirituality or certain cults, are based on false teachings and visions. Always test any angelic experience or message against Scripture (Gal 1:8). If something contradicts the Bible, it is not from God.
