Who is Jesus?

Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God and Savior of all mankind.

Jesus is a name (not title) meaning ‘Savior.’ Christ is a title, which comes from the Greek word Christos, meaning, ‘the anointed one.” The only way to heaven is through Him (John 14:6). He who does not believe on the Son, is condemned already (John 3:18). Consider this:

This is the record, that God has given to us, eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He that has the Son has life; and he that has not the Son of God has not life.”
(1 John 5:11-12)

I believe that Jesus laid aside His divine nature and operated as a man on this earth, with the assistance of the Holy Spirit. He was often referred to as the ‘Son of man’ (Luke 22:48, Luke 22:69, Luke 24:7 etc.). According to the Holy Writ, Jesus did not perform any miracles, prior to the Baptism of the Holy Spirit (Luke 3:21-22). Any mention of Christ performing miracles prior to His Holy Ghost Baptism are referenced in Gnostic writings outside the Canon of Scripture. These questionable texts are neither inerrant nor inspired by God. I believe the resurgence of these texts to be a direct assault on the authenticity of Holy Scripture and the character of Christ.

I believe in the incarnation of Christ through the virgin birth as documented in the Word of God (Isaiah 7:14; 9:6; Matthew 1:18-25; Luke2:26-35). I believe Jesus was a perfect, sinless human being in whom dwelt all the fullness of the Godhead bodily (Colossians 2:9). He was God and the perfect man. I believe He lived a sinless life and died upon the cross as an all-sufficient atonement for our sins, personal transgressions and Adam’s original sin.

I believe in the bodily resurrection of Christ, in His triumphant ascension into heaven, and that He in His glorified body, now sits at the right hand of heaven’s Majesty, until He shall return to judge the world at the last day. Perfect, sinless humanity is at the heart of the moral universe, participating in the government of creation and interceding for His saints, until He shall come to judge the living and the dead, at the end of the age (Luke 24:1-7; Romans 1:4; 1 Corinthians 15:12-19).
