Friend, this is our fourth and final segment on using the name of Jesus. And in this session, we’re going to talk about the different aspects where the name can be used. Of course, salvation is one. Salvation is found in no other name. Then we have water baptism, baptizing people in the sea of the Holy Ghost. We’re also able to cast out demons in the name of Jesus. Mark 16:17 outlines this. And then, of course, we can petition the Father in the name of Jesus, John 16, verses 23 through 24. And finally, if that’s not enough, we can do everything in the name of Jesus, Colossians 3:17. Our attitude should be one of glorifying God on the job, day to day. When we’re encountering colleagues or family or whoever it is, we are to be an example to others and an ambassador for Christ Jesus, an emissary for him on this earth. So let’s join me now live in session for the fourth and final part. There’s certain things that people are more susceptible to, right? And the enemy has studied you. We talked about familiar spirits before, spirits that are familiar with you. They know your weaknesses, right? Paul talks about the sin that so easily besets us. The besetting sin is that one sin you keep stumbling over all the time. Krispy Kreme is there and I’ve got to drive in. I’m just saying, there’s that one thing where it’s like it’s driving you. My old mentor said, if something’s driving you, that’s demonic. If something is driving you, that’s demonic.
Jesus leads, right? From the front. Come this way. He’s gentle. Come this way. Amen. But don’t cross him. But I’m just saying he’s gentle. I have to say it. But the point is that Jesus is leading. Now, if the devil is prodding you, the way he gets me is when it’s, you’ve got to make a decision now. You’ve got to make a decision today. Look at that text. You have got to make a decision right now. And if you don’t, the whole world is going to blow up. That’s how the enemy gets you. With this whole, like, it’s got to be done now. If you just step back and take some 10, 15, 20 minutes, that problem’s like, I’m not even thinking about that now. Okay? So you have to be aware of the things that the enemy can interject in your thought life. In Ephesians 6, it says, Satan throws fiery dance. All right. In the old days, there were arrows, right? They would hit you. Ow, that hurt. Then there was the fiery dart. So as soon as that impacted, it had kerosene on it or bitumen and it would explode. And so not only was your leg hit, you were in an inferno. That’s the fiery dart. The key is to quench it immediately. Don’t carry on a conversation with the enemy. You’ll lose. You’ll lose. If you start, if imagination comes to your mind and you start to meditate on that imagination, within about 35 seconds, man, you’ll be thinking of, I’m going to do this. Amen. You know, I’m talking the truth. So how did Jesus show us how to combat the enemy?
Matthew 4, Luke 4. It was never a conversation with Jesus. It was a command. You’re the son of God, right? You’re the new punk in town. Throw yourself from the top of the temple. Show yourself as the big dude. Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. Right? So Jesus started quoting the book of Deuteronomy back to Satan. He never said, oh yeah, listen, man, I’m Jesus. You just back off, dude. Get out of me. He didn’t say that, even though he probably wanted to. It was reciting the word of God. Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God, which is one of the very verses he quoted. That word is rhema. And so we live by the spoken word. That’s how we live. Not just the logos, which is the summation of God’s word that’s written. We live by the spoken word. So the next time you have an attack, whenever that is, and you feel your thought life is getting really bad, you speak out of your mouth in the name of Jesus, I command you to leave. You don’t think it, you speak it. Because in the spoken word is where the power is at. I’ll say it again. It’s in the spoken word is where the power is at. You don’t have to accept every thought that comes into your mind. I think Kenneth Hagin said, you know what? Thoughts are like birds. They come to nest, but you decide which ones nest. You command the birds to leave. And birds are a typology of the demonic, if you look at scripture, usually. Because in the birds in Mark 4, the birds came and they tried to take the seed, right? They’re just trying to take it from that which is sown to be planted. Anyway, but I’m giving you some analogies here. Someone said that worry is carrying on a conversation with the enemy. That’s what worry is, right?
You’re having a conversation. What about next week? Well, I don’t know about next week. You’re carrying on a postulating conversation with the enemy. And if you go down that route, friends, you’re going to be in trouble. Because you’re going to agree, right? Then we have sin. Then we have sin that we keep doing over and over again. If you keep doing the same sin over and over again without repentance, I believe you can open the door to the demonic. One of those ways is drugs. We don’t know the full repercussions of drugs on human brain, changing the chemical structure, etc. Even prescription drugs can affect people. So the name of Jesus, what can we do? We can be saved with it. We can be baptized in the name of Jesus. We can repent and be baptized and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. And some people have that in this room. Amen? We can cast out demons in Mark 16:17. We can ask the Father in the name of Jesus. He said, right now you haven’t asked anything, but when I die and I’m resurrected, then you will ask the Father in my name, but you haven’t asked anything up to this point. That’s John 16, 23 through 24. And then we do it all in the name of Jesus, right? So if that didn’t cover everything, it says here, Colossians 3:17. And whatsoever you do in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus. Do it all. When I go to work tomorrow, I’m doing it all in the name of Jesus.
You will be honored on your workplace if you glorify him. You will be honored. So don’t ask what God commanded you to do. Very important slide. We’re wrapping it up. This is the first part of a three-part series. We’ll go through about 11. I’m kidding. This is the last slide. No, this is the last slide. Amen. We do not ask the Father to do things that he commanded us to do. Now, this is so crucial. So when we have a healing opportunity, what are we going to do in the future? We’re going to go, oh, Father, please heal Sister Sue. She’s such a forthright and righteous woman. No, that’s religious pap. We command in the name of Jesus. We lay hands and we say symptoms of sickness and disease. I command you to go. Fever, I command you to go. Remember when Jesus rebuked the fever of Peter’s mother-in-law. Remember that? Some people think that’s why Peter denied Christ because he healed his mother-in-law. Father, forgive me. Not everybody got it. Laura’s still trying to figure it out. She used her authority. However, if there is a spiritual source behind the sickness, which I believe there is in most cases, and I think the West is blind to the spiritual aspect of sickness. If you go to Asia or Africa, right, the first thing they’re going to do, man, is they’re going to command this to go, and we’re laying hands on you.
And if that don’t work, we’ll take you to the doctor. Am I right, Michael? Because they understand the spiritual aspect of the sickness. Living in sickness. Same in Asia, same in Indonesia, wherever you go. It’s only in the West that we’re going to give you a pill. The trouble is if you give people a pill and there’s still a demon, oh dear, right? The spirit has to be confronted. I’m not saying there’s a demon in everybody who’s sick. I’m not saying that. I’m saying in some cases it could be, and we cannot discount that. If you read Jesus in the Gospels, it said he cast out demons and healed the sick. Did you notice the order? He cast out demons and healed the sick. It didn’t say he healed the sick and cast out demons, no. It was the demonic first. Because if you don’t pull the weeds out, they’re going to grow back. If you just pray for someone without dealing with the root issue, it’s like mowing the yard, man. It’s going to come back next week. It’s just going to come back, amen? So we have to deal with the spirit at hand. Now, it’s difficult because people will say, I have a spirit of addiction and that’s what I have. Okay, fair enough. You may have a spirit of addiction because you’ve given into that so many times that you’ve lost control. That could be a truth, but it still takes a decision of the will to resist, right? See, God’s going to honor your will. God will honor your decisions in life. We are living in grace, which is God’s equipping power to do the right thing, but we can still choose wrongly, right? We can still open up a door.
Addiction has to be resisted with a will first, and then God will meet you supernaturally in that area. Some people have given themselves over to addiction so much that they need people around them to pray and cast things out. But once that’s dealt with, they then need to walk in the spirit, amen? And they need to stop doing what they were doing, which is a decision of the will. Once you’ve been delivered, you then can choose freely. Whereas when you weren’t delivered, you just probably couldn’t get out of the kerfuffle you were in, okay? Whatever that word kerfuffle is, I’m still trying to figure it out. It’s a British word maybe. Tangled. You’re tangled up. The spirit of gluttony is a difficult one because I’ve tried to cast that out. I tried to cast out the spirit of gluttony, and it said I’ll come out for a cookie. I’m using an extreme example to show you that it’s the decision of the will, right? The chocolate made me do it. No, it didn’t. What’s that get at the comedian in the 70s who kept saying the devil made me do it? Did he? No, not really. He chose to cooperate with the law of agreement, amen? Friend, that is our final session. And may I remind you, we do not ask the Father to do things that Jesus commanded us to do. Psalm 103, Matthew 8:17, 1 Peter 2:24, and Isaiah 53 are standout scriptures that we can stand upon for healing. We don’t ask the Father to cast out demons when he has bestowed authority and power to us to move in his name, and we need to confront the manifestations of darkness when and where applicable. We don’t ask the Father to do anything about the devil. We must submit to the Father and resist the devil in Jesus’ name.
Now, let me just switch real quick into a word of knowledge and wisdom. I just feel like, Brian, if you’re listening, you have an opportunity for a construction site job that God has opened the door for, and you’re a bit reticent. You’re not sure about it, but the Lord is saying, do it. This is from me. It will open up temporary finances that you need. It’s not a long-term thing. In fact, you’re trying to pursue something in the opposite direction, and you’re thinking you’re disobeying God because of this opportunity. But no, he is saying you should pursue it because it is temporary and it’s going to provide the necessary funds to do what you need to do. Now, Angela, there’s a lady out there called Angela. I feel like she’s involved in a sickness of a relative, and she has done her part. Angela, you have prayed, you have supported, even financially, but I feel like there’s this heaviness over you because you think you’re responsible for the outcome when that is a lie. You are not responsible for the outcome. I just feel tremendous liberation for you personally as you relieve this stress.
It’s even starting to affect your physical body, and I just command that to leave in Jesus’ name. Angela, if you’re listening to this, let it all go, girl. You’re not responsible for the outcome. You’ve been obedient to the measure of word that has been given, but you’ve got to let it go because it’s taking a toll emotionally upon you. I also feel like there’s a lady called Dominique out there who somebody owes you a significant amount of money, and you’ve been standing on this for, I want to say, almost a year, when in actuality, you’re going to get these funds. In fact, the enemy is telling you you’re not, but you’ve been standing in faith for so long now, it’s almost as if you’re letting go and saying, God, I don’t know if I’ll ever get this money that’s owed to me, but I figure out the Lord is saying, no, hang in there.
