In this episode, Carl explores the believer’s authority to use Jesus’ name in healing, deliverance, and spiritual opposition. Drawing from Acts 3 and Acts 16, he contrasts petitioning the Father with directly commanding sickness and demonic forces in Jesus’ name, which is the Church’s divine right. Biblical examples involving Peter, Paul, and the seven sons of Sceva demonstrate that spiritual authority is rooted in a genuine relationship with Christ. Carl encourages believers to understand their authority, align their thinking with God’s Word, and confidently exercise the power available through the name of Jesus. It’s time to use that precious name. Join him now…

Friend, this is part three of using the name of Jesus laterally as Differentiated from the vertical petitioning of the father but taking power and authority over the demonic and sickness in the name of Jesus We’re gonna talk about Acts chapter 3 and Acts chapter 16 We’re gonna talk about Peter and John and their encounters with a demonic and then the seven sons of Sceva We’re going there friend But I also want to talk later on in this broadcast about who you’re agreeing with Who are you agreeing with in your mind? Make sure that you are agreeing with the word and not a lie that you’re taking on board that is defining your very life Get ready for part three of this message as you join me live from D hop now Dead out of his mouth. I’m standing on the Word of God. I’m standing on the name of Jesus right now He just kept saying Jesus Jesus over and over while he saw this flame come towards his face now It’s probably seconds, but he said it felt like 20 minutes That’s how long it took to get there because everything slows down because your brain speeds up, right? He said something lifted me up out of my seat pushed me vertically. He said the next thing I knew I was on the wing He’s looking back at the plane. There’s it hadn’t exploded yet. He’s already outside He was lot he was sitting on the plane Why because he used the name now, this is very serious tonight, you know church is fun, you know, it’s cool We’ll come here on a Wednesday and we’ll have some fun. We’ll sing some songs.
That’s great However, there’s a life-and-death situation that could be before us. Amen. I don’t know if there is I’m not trying to be melodramatic Well brother Rob came here tonight to tell that testimony amen Because that’s a real-life testimony so Another example like like the brother here The name of Jesus is so important You know Jesse to plan is his and Andrew Womack have both been told not to get on planes and both of those planes crashed Right when they’re about to get on it at the gate don’t get on the plane Okay, and lo and behold they went down and then you know, we’ve got to listen to the Holy Spirit It’s so important just in the small stuff the more we listen to him in the small stuff the easier it is in the bigger stuff, amen So I’m gonna give some Bible examples here of healing So acts 3 3 through 6 who’s seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple? So there’s guys hanging around the temple looking for some money and Peter fastened his eyes upon this man With John and said look on us and he gave heed unto them expecting to receive something Then Peter and Peter said silver and gold have I none but such as I have I give unto you in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk How did he pray?
He said Oh Father, please heal this man. Oh, please Lord heal this man No, he didn’t pray like that. In fact, he didn’t even pray He just commanded right and there’s a difference that’s lateral. We’re not talking about petition tonight We’re talking about using the name of Jesus laterally But notice that he came expecting to receive something. So the Pete the person had faith to receive that’s important What did Peter have he had no money. It must have been a preacher. He had no money. That’s a running joke Philippians 2 9 The name that we’re gonna do offering a Name the name that is above every name. Amen Philippians 2 9 That’s what Peter had Nowhere in Scripture are we admonished to ask God to heal anybody Controversial pastor we are to expect it and apply our faith in the area of healing and lay hands on that person, right in 1st Peter 224 it says by his stripes. We were healed not our were past tense.
The same Peter who was involved in this healing is the same Peter who wrote by his stripes. We were healed Deliverance Okay, Paul and Silas were thrown in prison Because they started to stir the hornets nest how by delivering people Oh, man, you’re gonna go into the enemy’s territory and command the devil to go in Jesus name. We’re gonna throw you in prison, brother Okay, what is the response from the ruling entities who are ruling over that region? They’re gonna throw you in jail Okay, this is one example. I’m not saying if you cast the demon out of brother Francis or whoever you’re gonna be thrown in jail I’m not saying that but when you make a public Spectacle of the authority of Christ. There’s gonna be consequences to that I remember John Osteen said that when he went to Germany for the first time He’s in Berlin and he’s preaching in this conference and you know, everything’s great The music’s going and you know, I’m excited about being in Germany today And he said this woman came down the aisle hissing like a snake She was actually moving like this down the center of the aisle just crawling on her belly He just jumped off the stage and said in the name of Jesus I command you to come out of her and lo and behold there was a deliverance. She got up. She started dancing around the place So he took his authority, right? But if we don’t take our authority she could be there all night looking very weird This is deep Jesus cannot cast out demons for you. Oh, wait a minute Jesus can do anything No, he gave you the authority and where he gave you the authority.
He’s not going to take it up Paul did not beg or ask God for the demon to leave right and I didn’t even read the passage Verse 16 one day as we were going down to the place of prayer. We met a slave girl who had a spirit that enabled her to tell the future if you look up that word in the Greek It’s Python. She had a Python spirit right in Greece in those times. They had the Delphi Prophetess right who would inhale lots of fumes from the caves and then tell you your future. Amen Well, if you trust that good luck, good luck with that She went on an LSD trip from smoke and we’re gonna we’re gonna trust this chick to tell us the future. Good luck with that Kings would come from all around the world to see this woman But it’s the same spirit Python that was in the spirit of Delphi That’s in this chick right here. And he said I command you in the name of Jesus Christ I use chick as a term of benevolence of disclaimer I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her and instantly it left her They were this spirit was telling the truth These men are the servants of the Most High God and they have come to tell you how to be saved I mean the devil is like spilling the beans man. These guys are gonna save everybody. Whoo. You know, it’s like Okay Jesus made the devil an evangelist here for a sentence, right? Her Master’s hopes of wealth were now shattered. So they grabbed Paul and Silas and threw him into the prison Amen, because they were making money out of this lady, right?
Are there people today on TV saying I’ll tell you your future There sure are right, but they can be quite accurate pastor That’s because they’re talking to spirits that are familiar with the people in their lifetime If you observe someone for 50 years, you’re gonna know a little bit about them, right? So then if that prophetess or whoever she calls herself is talking to that spirit, there’s gonna be some truth in that Because they’ve observed what that person did, right? That’s the hook once they’ve got you in that hook. Oh, man, this must be real now. I’m gonna believe everything they say No, that’s the error, right? For $55. I’ll tell you what’s gonna happen in two weeks’ time and for $5,000 $5,000 To command is to direct authoritatively to demand to dominate somebody or something at the person’s immediate disposal So, how do most Christians confront some opposition? I’m sorry what I did yesterday and I did some stuff a week before Okay So already your conviction has defeated you right the condemnation is defeating you it says in the name of Jesus, right? Forget about what you did yesterday talk to the father after the incident and get right with him Amen, but don’t let that stop you from confronting the enemy, right? There’s a difference between vertical petition and lateral commanding and that’s what we’re talking about Okay, this is kind of funny You probably all know this one right the seven sons of Sceva or Shiva, however, you want to call it So there was some Jewish guys and they were traveling around from town to town casting out evil spirits Right, they tried to use the name of the Lord Jesus in their incantations saying now now they’d observed what Paul was doing.
hey’d watched him for probably a day or so Paul’s going around in the name of Jesus come out in the name of Jesus come out They tried to repeat what he said I command you in the name of Jesus whom Paul preaches to come out right Seven sons of Sceva a leading priest were doing this but one time when they tried it the evil spirit applied I know Jesus and I know Paul, but who are you dude? Right in other words in the spirit realm Paul and Jesus have authority But you have no authority because it’s based on relationship Our authority is based on relationship if we don’t have a relationship with Jesus then we don’t have authority in the spirit realm They tried to do it from a surrogate viewpoint the Jesus that this guy was talking about Well, look what happened then the man with the evil spirit leaped up on them overpowered them and attacked them with such violence They fled from the house naked and battered now this It was a smackdown dude Naked is not naked as we think it is. It’s the outer garment. Okay? There was using an inner garment and he was basically stripped of his outer garments and ran off in his pajamas and his underpants Which is very embarrassing.
I must imagine I’ve never done it Don’t look at me like that show So Jesus only gave his sheepfold authority and power he did not give strangers power or authority So we must be in him and he must be in us amen So things we can do in the name of Jesus. Here are some things we can do Because 90% of Christians don’t really believe it when it comes to the enforcement of it. They can believe for salvation Yes, but when it comes to interacting or Combating the demonic realm they want to see whether you really believe it or not I think what he was doing there was testing to see if you had the gumption to cast him out You know some homeless people have a lot of demonic oppression it has to be said, you know If you go down 16th Street, you’ll see people talking to themselves quite a lot, you know, and you’re saying well They’re talking to themselves. Oh, really? Are they talking to themselves? You know the one of the spirits Jesus said often was unclean spirit the unclean right the one the Demoniac of the Guarderians where he was bound in fetters and chains He had an unclean spirit then his right mind was returned to him when it was cast out Which is what happened to you, right? so How do we allow access to the demonic and I could under stand where they may not be as many people here tonight because the Lord’s Trying to go deep right tonight How do we give access to the demonic realm?
There’s several ways, but the first way is agreement in the mind Agreement very basic. Oh What about worry? Well, what’s gonna happen next week is you got no money to pay for that, dude You’re not gonna pay for that. Are you question question? I yeah, you know, I may not be able to pay for that worry agreement Right. Well, if you can’t pay for that, I mean you’re gonna get into trouble, right? Well, I mean maybe You see what it’s a progressive conversation, right? You started with worry the enemy came he said are you ready to play tonight? And you went yeah, I’m kind of ready to play. I’m gonna talk to you about worry. Okay. Well you took worry Are you gonna take dread? What is dread its future? Forebodings, it’s the concern for tomorrow. Oh, no, what is gonna happen? Oh, no agreement again Matthew 18:19 said, ‘where two are in agreement as touching anything It shall be done by my father in heaven’ newsflash. You can have a demon agreeing with you. That’s two That’s a person and a demon agreeing where two are in agreement. Are you agreeing with lust? Okay, I mean it’s like, you know, the devil could come tonight and say pastor on the way home You need to rob the 7-eleven. I’d be like, you know what? I’m not gonna do that wise move…

Six Frequently Asked Questions:
1. What does it mean to use the name of Jesus with spiritual authority?
Using the name of Jesus means exercising the authority given to believers through their relationship with Christ. Scripture teaches that the name of Jesus carries power above every name, and believers can stand in His authority when confronting spiritual opposition, sickness, and demonic forces.
2. What is the difference between praying to God and commanding in the name of Jesus?
Praying to the Father in Jesus’ name is a petition, asking God according to His will. Commanding in the name of Jesus refers to exercising the authority Christ has given believers to enforce His victory over spiritual opposition, sickness, and demonic activity.
3. How does Acts 3 demonstrate the power of Jesus’ name?
In Acts 3, Peter and John encountered a man who was unable to walk. Instead of asking God to heal him, Peter declared, “In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.” The man was instantly healed, demonstrating the authority and power available through the name of Jesus for every believer, not just the apostles.
4. What can Christians learn from the seven sons of Sceva in Acts 16?
The seven sons of Sceva attempted to use the name of Jesus without having a genuine relationship with Him. Their encounter with the evil spirit revealed that spiritual authority is not based on repeating words but on knowing Christ and walking in the authority He provides.
5. How can agreement with negative thoughts give the enemy influence?
Agreement with fear, worry, bitterness, unforgiveness, or lies can create spiritual vulnerability because thoughts shape beliefs and actions. Christians are encouraged to align their minds with God’s Word rather than agreeing with thoughts that contradict His truth.
6. What does it mean to walk in the authority of the triumphant church?
The triumphant church understands that Jesus has already defeated Satan through His death and resurrection. Instead of living in fear or constantly battling for victory, believers walk from a position of victory, knowing they are seated with Christ and empowered to use His name.
